    What a worship leader does

A worship leader plans and leads the music in a church service. That means choosing songs with the pastor, rehearsing the band and singers, and setting the order of the service so the music serves the sermon.

    Skills churches ask for

    • Leading from piano or guitar
    • Choosing songs that fit the sermon
    • Rehearsing a volunteer team
    • Using slide and chart software

    Where the job is found

Many churches pay a worship leader for ten to twenty hours a week. A church plant may start with a volunteer. A large church hires a full-time pastor of worship and a team below that role.

    Who is hiring

Gateway Church (5), Woodside Bible Church (3), Alliance Christian Fellowship (2) lead the list. 2 of 29 listings state pay, from $15 to $17 an hour. Churches that leave pay out of the posting will often share it when you ask.
